Due to the winter storm warning in effect throughout the region and the potential travel hazards for patrons, the 8pm Leuven Songbook Concert on Saturday, January 19th is cancelled.
Concert tickets for the 8pm concert will be honored at the door on Sunday, January 20th at 4pm at Plymouth Church, or exchanged for any of the April 5-7 concerts by contacting the Les Délices box office at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (216)302-8404. Tickets may also be donated as a tax-deductible contribution to Les Délices.
Diminutive, precious, and sometimes highly decorated, songbooks were the mix-tapes of their day. Compiled with care for a specific individual, they not only included popular songs but also totally unique works.
Les Délices brings the music and images from the recently-discovered Leuven Songbook to vivid life in this multimedia program including gorgeous projected manuscript images and supertitles. Produced in collaboration with Chicago’s renowned Newberry Consort, our ensemble of singers, medieval fiddles, harp, lute, organetto, and recorders will perform works by Ockeghem, Busnois, and more.
Performers include: Ellen Hargis (soprano), David Douglass (vielle & rebec), Allison Monroe (vielle & rebec), Jason McStoots (tenor), Daniel Fridley (baritone), Charles Weaver (lute), Charles Metz (organetto), and Debra Nagy (harp, voice, medieval winds).
